EpiX Analytics, Fort Collins, CO; Designated Representative:
Francisco Zagmutt, DVM, MPVM, PhD

Dr. Francisco J. Zagmutt is a managing director at EpiX Analytics – an independent risk analysis institution based in Colorado with clients and collaborators worldwide. While Dr. Zagmutt’s experience in risk analysis spans many industries and fields, his core expertise is in epidemiology and risk analysis in health and food safety, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR) risk assessments. For example, he was the project lead on a collaborative effort between EpiX Analytics, several academic institutions, and USDA-ARS to perform an assessment of AMR risks from beef production that can also be used to evaluate other food safety AMR risks. This project has evolved into an ongoing USDA-funded quantitative risk assessment comparing AMR risks from beef in the US vs the EU. Dr. Zagmutt was initially involved in risk analysis via his training in veterinary medicine and analytical epidemiology. Early in his career, he developed a variety of risk assessment models for livestock and aquatic diseases that were used to inform policy in the US and Latin America. Dr. Zagmutt then applied epidemic models to actuarial calculations, and developed models to quantify food safety risks, which ultimately led him to apply modeling methods to areas beyond the fields of epidemiology and public health. He also has expertise in the pharmaceutical and medical fields, in pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modelling, developing probabilistic frameworks that unify multiple sources of evidence to establish efficacy and safety of drugs, and calculating the probability of success of potential compounds in early stages of development.
