Public Webinar with Update on the Development of the National Public Health Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Vector-Borne Diseases in Humans. March 29, 2023.

On March 29, 2023, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hosted this virtual event to share progress and receive additional public input on the draft National Strategy. Third-party contractors facilitated the webinar to ensure neutrality while emceeing three interactive exercises for real-time, two-way engagement between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), CDC, and participants.

Two hundred and seventy-nine unique participants joined the webinar, which included representation from 49 states and two U.S. territories. Participants included:

• Patients

• Patient advocates

• Non-profit organizations

• Professional societies

• Private-sector industry

• Federal grantees, including Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) grantees

• Universities including the Vector-Borne Disease Regional Centers of Excellence funded by the CDC, per the Kay Hagan Tick Act.

National Strategy Co-Leads from OASH and CDC shared highlights from the 2022 RFI feedback, 2022 Tribal Listening Session, and recent progress in 2023. After updates, the second half of the webinar included interactive exercises for real-time input on the draft National Strategy.
