There’s Still Time to Register for the Second Meeting of the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee

The U. S. Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Agriculture (USDA) announced that the second meeting of the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee will be held Wednesday, May 10th, 2023. The public is invited to attend the meeting virtually. Registration for the meeting is currently open through May 10th.

May 5, 2023 ODPHP Director RDML Paul Reed appeared on the latest episode of National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) “Podcast from Washington” for a discussion about Healthy People 2030’s Leading Health Indicators. RDML Reed was joined by Glenda Redeemer, MSN, Chronic Disease Prevention Division Manager at Tarrant County Public Health Department (TCPH) in Fort Worth, TX who discussed how Healthy People Leading Health Indicators inform local disease prevention and health promotion efforts. TCPH is also recognized as a Healthy People Champion.

Each May the U.S. observes National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Since 1983, each President has publicly recognized and promoted the importance of physical activity to good overall health. This year, President Biden followed suit and issued a Proclamation commemorating this year’s observance, saying, “When we invest in our health, we foster healthy homes, more productive communities, and a more resilient society for generations to come.” With this in mind, now is the perfect time to evaluate your health and take steps (literally!) towards leading a more active lifestyle.
