Help spread the word about Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, National Safety Month, World Sickle Cell Day, and National HIV Testing Day in June.
Each month, we feature select National Health Observances (NHOs) that align with our priorities for improving health across the nation. The NHOs in our June roundup help raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, injury prevention, sickle cell disease, and HIV testing.
Below, you’ll find links to resources that will help you spread the word about these NHOs. We hope you’ll join us in helping promote better health for all!
- Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month

- World Sickle Cell Day
Each year on June 19, Sickle Cell Disease Association of America hosts World Sickle Cell Day to raise awareness and increase knowledge about sickle cell disease. You can help spread the word with resources from the Office of Minority Health (OMH) and CDC's toolkit. And share MyHealthfinder's consumer-friendly resource to help parents learn about screening their newborn babies for sickle cell and other diseases.
- National HIV Testing Day
Since 1995, HIV.gov has observed National HIV Testing Day on June 27 to encourage people to get tested for HIV, know their HIV status, and get treatment if needed. Help promote this important NHO by sharing CDC’s resources. MyHealthfinder also has actionable information about getting tested for HIV and talking to the doctor about HIV testing to share with consumers. And you can learn about progress toward HIV-related objectives in the Healthy People 2020 HIV topic area. Finally, check out and share HIV.gov’s information on HIV and COVID-19.
We hope we’ve made it easier for you to promote these NHOs on your channels and with your networks. Together, we can work toward a healthier nation.
