The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) is pleased to announce the next webinar in the Healthy People 2030 Webinar Series. Titled Leveraging Healthy People 2030 to Address Issues Affecting Children, Mothers, and Families, this webinar will take place on Wednesday, June 22, 3:00-4:00 pm ET. To register, please visit the Healthy People 2030 Webinar Series registration page.
The presenters will provide an overview of three Healthy People 2030 objectives, their connections to one another, and current progress toward meeting their targets within the context of children and family health and well-being. The Oklahoma Perinatal Quality Improvement Collaborative will also share details on their statewide effort to reduce maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity and its alignment with the Healthy People 2030 Leading Health Indicator on maternal mortality. A moderated discussion will follow the formal presentations.
The webinar will focus on the following three Healthy People 2030 objectives:
- IVP-16: Reduce nonfatal child abuse and neglect
Every year in the United States, many children are abused or neglected. This often causes long-term physical, behavioral, and mental health problems. Strategies that promote safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments for all children can help prevent child abuse and neglect.
- MICH-04: Reduce maternal deaths (LHI)
Women in the United States are more likely to die from childbirth or problems related to pregnancy than women in other high-income countries. In addition, there are persistent disparities by race/ethnicity. Improving the quality of medical care for women before, during, and after pregnancy can help reduce maternal deaths.
- NWS-01: Reduce household food insecurity and hunger (LHI)
Food insecurity is linked to negative health outcomes in children and adults, and it may cause children to have trouble in school. Giving more people benefits through nutrition assistance programs, increasing benefit amounts, and addressing unemployment may help reduce food insecurity and hunger.
