Status: Baseline only
Reduce asthma deaths
Baseline: 9.4 asthma deaths per 1,000,000 population occurred in 2018 (age adjusted to the year 2000 standard population)
Target: 8.9 asthma deaths per 1,000,000 population
Every year in the United States, several thousand people die from asthma. There are disparities in the number of asthma deaths by race/ethnicity, age, sex, and geographic location. Improving asthma control — for example, by making sure more people use rescue medications — and reducing environmental triggers can help prevent deaths from asthma.
