Summary

Many adults in the United States have obesity, which is linked to chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and several types of cancer. But people with obesity often don’t get counseling related to weight loss, nutrition, or physical activity as part of health care visits. If health care providers refer adults with obesity to intensive behavioral interventions, it may help reduce obesity and related problems.
