Status: Baseline only

Increase the number of nationally representative, population-based surveys that collect data on (or for) lesbian, gay and bisexual populations

Baseline: 8 national, population-based surveys collected data on (or for) lesbian, gay, and bisexual populations in 2016

The baseline for this objective was obtained from DATA2020 sources and will be updated once demographic data become available in DATA2030.

Target: 10 national, population-based surveys

Target Setting Method

Lesbian, gay, and bisexual people have specific health-related challenges and disparities — and accurate data is key to identifying how to meet their health needs. But only a few national surveys include questions on sexual orientation. Adding questions about sexual orientation to more surveys can help inform health promotion strategies for these groups.
