Summary
People with high blood cholesterol are more likely to have heart disease. Although the average total cholesterol level among U.S. adults has gone down in recent years, millions of people still have high cholesterol. Evidence shows that interventions to help people eat healthier, get more physical activity, and lose weight can reduce total cholesterol levels.
