The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends individual cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to improve youth’s mental health after trauma. Trauma can affect the long-term mental health of children and adolescents. CBT helps youth identify thoughts and behaviors that result from their traumatic experiences so they can make positive changes.
