The Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF) recommends vaccination programs in Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) settings —used with other components — to increase vaccination rates in children. These programs include:
- Assessing whether infants and children have gotten vaccines
- Providing vaccines on site or referring people to other vaccine providers
- Other interventions, like reminders, tracking and outreach, or monthly vouchers to prompt more WIC visits when vaccines aren’t up-to-date
CPSTF noted that these programs can be provided in WIC clinics or can be located and coordinated with other health care services.
