The Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF) recommends vaccination programs in schools and child care centers. CPSTF looked at studies examining vaccination programs in schools or child care centers that:

  • Provided vaccines on site
  • Were overseen by a range of providers
  • Were delivered in different types of school and child care settings
  • Delivered at least 1 vaccine recommended for children and adolescents
  • Included other components, like education, lower costs, and better access to vaccination services

CPSTF found that these programs increase vaccination rates and decrease diseases that vaccines can prevent. CPSTF noted that the programs may be especially helpful for improving vaccination rates for new vaccines and for vaccines with new recommendations.
