The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends immunization information systems to increase vaccination rates. These systems are confidential, population-based databases that record all vaccine doses given to people living in a certain area. Immunization information systems can:

  • Help providers determine whether people have been vaccinated
  • Guide public health responses to disease outbreaks
