The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends distribution and education programs to increase people’s use of child safety seats. Through these programs, parents and caregivers get approved child safety seats for free or rent them at a low cost. The programs also teach parents and caregivers about the importance of child passenger safety. The programs are intended for families who may not be able to afford child safety seats or don’t understand why using a child safety seat is important.
