The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends intensive lifestyle interventions for people with type 2 diabetes to improve their blood sugar control and reduce their cardiovascular disease risk factors. Over at least 6 months, these interventions offer counseling, coaching, or individualized guidance to improve people’s diet, physical activity level, or both.
