Registration is now open for the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) and American Public Health Association webinar, Community-Based Violence Prevention and Firearm Safety. This webinar will take place on Tuesday, July 16 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm ET. During this one-hour event, ODPHP will present on two Healthy People 2030 featured objectives related to violence prevention and firearm safety and feature presentations by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and Polk County Health Department discussing intervention strategies.

Firearm-related injuries and deaths in the United States are a public health crisis. HHS remains committed to reducing the number of firearm-related injuries and deaths. As with other public health challenges, that means openly acknowledging the scope of the problem, updating the public on what we’re doing to reduce firearm-related injuries and deaths, and providing the most up-to-date available guidance to help the broader public navigate the crisis.
