Public Health Infrastructure Healthy People in Action

The Big Cities Health Coalition (BCHC) formed in 2002 with the goal of giving large urban health departments a forum to share strategies and best practices. Its mission is “advancing equity and health for present and future generations.” BCHC is a close collaborator of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), an organization previously highlighted in the Healthy People in Action series.

As the national nonprofit organization that represents local public health departments, the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) plays an important role in improving health and advancing health equity nationwide. And by teaming up with Healthy People 2030, NACCHO is demonstrating just how important local health departments are to achieving national health objectives.

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) is the national nonprofit organization representing public health agencies in U.S. states and territories, freely associated states, and the District of Columbia. That means it plays a major role in improving health and well-being nationwide — and it’s an ideal partner for Healthy People 2030. ASTHO and ODPHP work together toward their common goals through a cooperative agreement.
