Status: Baseline only
Increase the proportion of students with disabilities who spend at least 80 percent of their time in regular education programs
Baseline: 63.5 percent of students with disabilities aged 6 to 21 years spent at least 80 percent of their time in regular education programs in the 2017-18 school year
Target: 73.3 percent
According to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, students with disabilities should be in a regular classroom environment whenever possible. In recent years, an increased number of students with disabilities have spent most of their school day in a regular classroom — but many still don’t. Programs and policies that help students with disabilities participate in regular classroom environments may increase their opportunities for educational, physical, and social activities.
