The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends using bone measurement testing to screen women age 65 years or older for osteoporosis and prevent fractures. USPSTF also recommends bone measurement testing to prevent fractures in postmenopausal women younger than 65 years who are at increased risk of osteoporosis. USPSTF found insufficient evidence to assess whether the benefits of screening men for osteoporosis to prevent fractures outweigh the harms.
