Management of Multidrug-Resistant Organisms Guidelines

This set of guidelines offers recommendations
to help all health care providers prevent infections due to multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs). It categorizes the recommendations by type, including:

  • Administrative measures
  • Education and training of health care personnel
  • Systems for effective treatment of infections and correct use of antibiotics 
  • Surveillance
  • Infection control precautions
  • Environmental measures

Prevention and control of MDROs requires both the leadership of administrators and scientific leaders and a commitment of financial and human resources.
