In partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation, HHS is working to accelerate the adoption of Food Is Medicine in health systems. Through this partnership, HHS and The Rockefeller Foundation aim to improve health outcomes and health equity by engaging a broader public audience in understanding nutrition, accelerating collective understanding of Food Is Medicine interventions and their impacts, and exploring strategies to scale successful Food Is Medicine programs to more eligible Americans. The Rockefeller Foundation is a philanthropic organization that is a leader in the movement to integrate food and nutrition into health care to help fight the growing epidemic of diet-related diseases.

Food & Society at the Aspen Institute

HHS has partnered with Food & Society at the Aspen Institute as part of our shared commitment to advancing unified Food Is Medicine policy and practice. This partnership will enable HHS and Aspen to create an exchange of research, communication, and implementation of programs and policy priorities to advance the collective understanding of Food Is Medicine. Food & Society at the Aspen Institute brings together public health leaders, policymakers, researchers, farmers, chefs, food makers, and entrepreneurs to find practical solutions to food system challenges and inequities. The initiative aims to expand access to proven interventions.

HHS has partnered with Instacart to support and scale food as medicine interventions, including by increasing access to nutritious food and offering the tools needed to support better health and wellbeing for individuals and families across the country. Instacart, through its Instacart Health initiative, is leveraging its technology, partnerships, research, and advocacy to expand access to nutritious food, inspire people to make healthier choices, and scale food as medicine programs.

Feeding America has joined HHS in a partnership to bring together health systems and food banks to advance FIM interventions and ensure everyone has access to the nutritious food and resources needed to improve health. Feeding America is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and is part of a nationwide network of food banks, food pantries and community-based organizations in the United States that works to address hunger.
