The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends worksite programs to improve employees’ diet or physical activity and reduce their weight. These programs are designed to improve health behaviors and results, and they can be used alone or as part of a comprehensive worksite wellness program. They include at least 1 of these components:

  • Information and education, like lectures or written materials
  • Activities intended to change thoughts and social factors, like behavioral counseling or rewards and reinforcement
  • Changes that make it easier for all employees to make healthy choices, like making healthy foods more available or providing health club memberships
