Research continues to show that promoting healthy habits to employees – be it through intensive programs or structural and cultural support (e.g., an on-site gym and encouragement to use it during the lunch break) – is an effective way to benefit both employer and employee. This Global Employee Health and Fitness Month, IHRSA presents five reasons to consider employee wellness programs.
The Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee is composed of 17 nationally recognized experts in the fields of physical activity and health. Today, we are highlighting Dr. David Buchner, a Shahid and Ann Carlson Khan Professor in Applied Health Sciences at in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois. On the Committee, Dr. Buchner is the chair of the Individuals with Chronic Conditions Subcommittee and is a member of the Aging Subcommittee.
Local school wellness policies help set children up for a healthy future by cultivating healthy eating and physical activity habits, but children and youth with disabilities are often not fully included in these efforts.
