The Be Active Your Way Blog is the official blog of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. Follow the blog for updates about the development of the second edition of the Guidelines and insights from health and physical activity professionals about translating the Guidelines into practice.

The National Physical Activity Plan (NPAP) acts as a comprehensive roadmap facilitating widespread achievement of the Physical Activity Guidelines. The latest version of the NPAP, updated in 2016, includes overarching priorities which serve to guide the direction of the plan, and the field, moving forward. One of these overarching priorities is to support the development and implementation of comprehensive physical activity strategic plans at state, regional, and community levels. This post discusses state-based physical activity plans.
There is confusion among many Americans, particularly women who are pregnant or breastfeeding and parents and caregivers of young children, regarding seafood consumption. You can help to clear up confusion and encourage patients and clients—particularly women who are pregnant or breastfeeding and parents and caregivers of young children—to include seafood as part of an overall healthy eating pattern.

The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition announced this morning that the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA+) is now officially integrated into SuperTracker, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s free online food and activity tracking tool. For health educators and professionals, this means your students, patients, and clients have the ability to log individual food items and physical activities into their SuperTracker profile in order to complete the PALA+ program.…

The Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee is composed of 17 nationally recognized experts in the fields of physical activity and health. Today, we are highlighting Dr. David Marquez, Director of the Exercise Psychology Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Chicago. On the Committee, Dr. Marquez serves as a member of the Brain Health and Promotion of Physical Activity Subcommittees.
