Keynote Speaker for Healthy Aging Summit Announced!

We’re pleased to announce that Dr. Claudia H. Kawas will be the keynote speaker for the second day of this year’s Healthy Aging Summit.

Dr. Claudia H. Kawas

Dr. Kawas, a geriatric neurologist and researcher, is the Al and Trish Nichols Chair in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of California, Irvine — and a professor of Neurobiology & Behavior and Neurology. Some of her major research interests include the epidemiology of aging and Alzheimer’s disease, the determinants of successful aging, and the cognitive and functional abilities of people age 90 years and older. You can read more about Dr. Kawas here.

In her keynote presentation at the Summit, Dr. Kawas will discuss successes from the past century that have extended life expectancy by 30 years. She’ll also talk about the behaviors linked to longevity, especially in people age 90 and older. And she’ll explain how dementias like Alzheimer’s disease impact the lives of older adults.

The learning objectives for the presentation are:

  • Recognize how life expectancy for older adults has increased over the past century
  • Describe factors associated with living to age 90
  • Understand at least one risk factor associated with Alzheimer’s disease

Dr. Kawas will deliver her keynote on Tuesday, July 17 from 8:40–9:00 a.m. We sincerely hope you’ll join us for this exciting learning opportunity!
