We’re pleased to invite you to join ODPHP in Washington, DC, for a free listening session about reducing preventable hypoglycemia. We’ll share information about why hypoglycemia is an important public health issue, and discuss federal efforts to reduce hypoglycemia from adverse drug events (ADEs).
Adverse drug events are injuries caused by medical interventions related to a pharmaceutical drug. Two out of 3 ADEs are related to 3 specific types of drugs: opioids, anticoagulants, and diabetes agents. Hypoglycemia is the primary ADE of concern for diabetes agents.
ODPHP, in conjunction with the Federal Interagency Steering Committee and 3 Federal Interagency Workgroups, released the National Action Plan for Adverse Drug Event Prevention (ADE Action Plan) in 2014. The ADE Action Plan identifies strategies for reducing ADEs.
The listening session will take place in person only, and is open to public and private health professionals, organizations, and consumer representatives. Seating is limited, so we recommend registering early. Please also note there will be no registration available on site.
Because the session takes place in a federal building, all participants will need to show photo identification. If you’re a federal employee, please bring your badge.
