The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommends tenant-based housing voucher programs to improve health and health-related outcomes for adults. These programs help households with very low incomes afford safe and sanitary housing in the private market — specifically, the programs cover a substantial portion of people’s rent. People can use the vouchers to move to neighborhoods with more opportunities.
