These guidelines represent current knowledge related to antiretroviral treatment (ART) in adults and adolescents with HIV. The Department of Health and Human Services Panel on Antiretroviral Guidelines for Adults and Adolescents reviews new evidence and updates the guidelines when needed. The guidelines are intended to help HIV care providers, and they include recommendations on baseline laboratory evaluations, treatment goals, choosing an initial ART regimen, managing treatment failure, and managing side effects and drug interactions.
