The goals of this nonprofit organization are to: educate the public on the nature of paruresis (often referred to as Pee-Shy, Shy-Bladder, Bashful Bladder, etc.); help those afflicted with paruresis overcome the stigma, embarrassment, and isolation associated with it; serve as an information clearinghouse and a resource center for treatment referrals; offer paruresis recovery workshops; facilitate the establishment of support or self-help groups across the world; promote research to help identify the most clinically effective treatments; accurately assess the epidemiology and incidence of paruresis; uncover the etiology (ies) of paruresis; and pursue other activities consistent with these purposes.
