The mission of the public health office of the Department of Human Services is to protect, preserve and promote the health of all the people of Oregon. To prevent unnecessary death and disability, improve the health status, and reduce the per-capita cost of illness care for all Oregonians. DHS- Health Services are responsible for assuring the availability and the quality of public health services in all parts of Oregon. Most program services are provided in partnership with local health departments, while technical support, consultation, and some direct services are provided from the state level.
