Abstract

The specialty of plastic surgery covers a wide range of procedures, and unlike other medical specialties which concentrate on one particular area of the body, plastic surgeons are involved in the reconstruction and remolding of nearly all external body structures. The American Society of Plastic Surgeon's web site has been designed to provide a variety of information about plastic surgery, from news on the latest advances and techniques to details of specific surgical procedures, including how to prepare for surgery, the types of anesthesia used and how long recovery takes. Look for answers to the most frequently asked questions about plastic surgery and statistics, including the average costs of various procedures.
