The American Association of Suicidology (AAS), founded in 1968, promotes the study of suicide and suicide prevention services. AAS activities include an annual meeting, a clinical training institute, a conference for survivors of suicide, publications, awards for outstanding contributions to the suicide prevention field, certification of suicide prevention services and individual crisis workers suicide prevention week, workshops, and volunteer training programs. AAS seeks to increase public awareness of suicide as a public health problem and preventive resources.
Publications
AAS publishes a journal, Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior and two newsletters, Newslink and Surviving Suicide.
