The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) is a professional and scientific organization, established to encourage the development of improved patient care through clinical nutritional support of patients during hospitalization and rehabilitation. ASPEN provides education for health care professionals interested in intravenous and tube feeding of sick patients, sponsors certification and self-assessment programs, and develops standards of care for nutritional assessment and support of patients. ASPEN program meetings provide continuing education credit in the areas of medicine, dietetics, nursing, and pharmacy.
Publications
ASPEN produces course syllabi, bibliographies, monographs, audiovisual materials, and product directories. Serial publications: Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, bimonthly--original research, editorials, reviews, bibliographies of current research, and case studies; Nutrition in Clinical Practice (magazine), bimonthly--organizational news and clinical information.
